Why mattresses are their own category
Almost no charity accepts used mattresses, and most Maryland curbside programs either refuse them or require a scheduled bulk pickup with specific wrapping rules.
That leaves a lot of people with a mattress leaning against the garage wall for months. Disposal facilities also charge a specific per-mattress fee, which is why they're priced individually rather than by volume.
Bed bugs — tell us honestly
If there's any chance of bed bugs, say so when you book. It isn't a problem and it doesn't get you turned away, but the mattress needs to be sealed in plastic before it moves through your house.
Not mentioning it risks spreading them into the hallway on the way out. We'd much rather know and plan for it.
