Refrigerant and why it matters
Fridges, freezers, and air conditioners contain refrigerant that can't legally go in a landfill. It has to be recovered by someone certified to do it.
We route those units to facilities equipped to handle recovery. It's a step some haulers skip, and it's the reason appliance disposal costs a bit more than an equivalent volume of furniture.
Disconnecting before we arrive
We can move appliances that are already disconnected. Anything still hooked to a gas line, a water line, or hard-wired electrical should be disconnected by a plumber or electrician first.
For a standard plug-in washer with a shutoff valve, most people handle it themselves. For gas ranges and gas dryers, please don't — get a professional.

Can you take a fridge from the basement?
Yes. Basement appliance removal is routine work for us, stairs included.
Do you disconnect gas appliances?
No. Gas lines need a licensed professional. Once it's disconnected and capped, we'll take it away.
Is the metal recycled?
Yes. Appliances are largely steel, and that goes to scrap rather than landfill.
